Jane Birkin - Via Japan

Reding 3, Tel AvivBuy Tickets

Celebrating 40 years to the masterpiece album "L'Histoire de Melody Nelson" and commencing 20 years to the death of her husband Serge Gainsbourg, singer and actress Jane Birkin is returning to the masters' classic songs.

Born in London, Birkin is the mythological wife  and muse of Serge Gainsbourg and mother of the successful actress Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Birking will arrive in Israel as a part of a world tour for two exclusive and intimate seated concerts in Reading 3 in Tel Aviv, accompanied by a Japanese ensemble.

The new show is composed of 100% Gainbourg's classics performed in a new arrangement by the Japanese band.

For years Birkin has been filling the concert halls performing different versions to Gainsbourg's songs, in styles ranging from Arabesque through pop to classical version with a string ensemble.

This time, Birkin, a fashion icon and one of the most influential women of her generation, adds a unique Japanese component to the songs and for a nobel cause.

A noted humanitarian with a rich track of political and social activism, Birking was deeply shocked by the Tsunami disaster in Japan and decided to take action – she gathered an impressive composition of Japanese musicians and threw a charity concert in Tokyo, All of whose proceeds dedicated to the "Doctors of the World" organization which helped take care of the victims.

while she was married to Serge Gainsbourg, Birkin participated in two of his most important albums: "Je t'aime ... moi non plus", first released in 1969, took the music world by storm with its provocative lyrics and "Histoire de Melody Nelson" released in 1971, who is considered by many musicians such as Beck, Jarvis Cocker, Air and Portishead as the album that shaped their musical identity and influenced them deeply.

Following the massive success of the concert in Japan, Birkin embarks on an international tour with the Japanese ensemble performing their unique version the Serge Gainsbourgs biggest classics.
